- The container has the microwave symbol stamped on the bottom with a series of wavy lines
- The bottom of the container is stamped with a #5 stamped on it.

Is it safe to reheat food in Tupperware?
Microwave Symbol: If your Tupperware is microwave safe, it will have a symbol on the bottom that indicates it is microwavable. There are a few variations of this symbol. For example, it can have just squiggly lines, it can have squiggly lines inside a box shaped like a microwave or it can have squiggly lines with a box under it.
Squiggly lines is the universal symbol to indicate that your container is microwave safe.
Symbol Number Five: Number 5 stamped on the bottom of a plastic container means it is dishwasher safe and microwaveable. These plastic containers are very sturdy and are heat resistant.
Keep in mind that sometimes your container may not have a symbol on it. It may have the actual words “microwave safe” on the bottom.
If your Tupperware is not microwaveable, it will have a rectangle symbol with squiggly lines and a diagonal bar going across it. It looks similar to the “do not” symbol used for no smoking.

To clean Tupperware using this method will take overnight soaking. Here are the steps to clean your storage containers properly to help make it last for many years.
The first step is to rinse out the containers and remove any food.
The second step is to coat the container with baking soda. Just sprinkle some on to to cover the surface.
The third step is to scrub the container with a coarse sponge. Make sure you scrub the entire surface.
The fourth step is pretty cool. Add a little bit of vinegar to the container. The result will be a fizzling reaction.
Gently scrub the container with the same coarse sponge to make the entire container is covered in the mixture.
Fill the Tupperware container with extremely hot water. Add the lid over the container to make the heat last longer and let it sit overnight.
When you wake up the following morning, simply empty the container and add a little more hot water along with some dish soap. Scrub a little, rinse, and towel dry. Your container should look like new.
